Complete Streets is DOTD's commitment to accommodate the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users along with traditional vehicles. To assist with implementing a Complete Streets policy at DOTD, an Advisory Council of Louisiana stakeholders was formed that continues to meet quarterly to advance and guide DOTD policy. DOTD publishes an Annual Legislative Report on Complete Streets performance measures for the state legislature that documents progress towards meeting Complete Streets goals. 

Advisory Council

The Complete Streets Advisory Council comprises representatives from DOTD, AARP, CPEX, FHWA, metropolitan planning organizations, universities, and other interested complete streets advocacy groups. 

 

Roles

  • Work with the Department to adopt and maintain an up-to-date Complete Streets policy that balances the access, mobility, health and safety needs of all users of the transportation system
  • Assist the Department with the implementation of the Complete Streets policy by assisting with the development of performance measures and by monitoring the progress though review of the annual progress report

 

Goals

  • ​​Safely and efficiently accommodate all road users
  • Create a network that balances integration of context sensitivity, access and mobility for all users
  • Provide leadership and establish partnerships with local public agencies on implementing the policy

​Every year, the Complete Streets Advisory Council submits an update on its activity to the Louisiana Legislature.  Below are the reports that have been submitted since the Council was established.
