Jefferson Highway Rail Crossing Relocation Project

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the Federal Railroad Administration, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, New Orleans Regional Planning Commission and the railroads operating in the New Orleans metropolitan area will host an open house public meeting for the Jefferson Highway Rail Crossing Relocation Project.

Thursday November 13, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.

Ochsner Medical Center Campus, Brent house Hotel, 2nd Floor Ballroom

Complimentary parking: Ochsner Medical Center Parking Garage, 2nd Floor and above

This project is evaluating combining the two at-grade highway-rail crossings on Jefferson Highway (US 90) between the Ochsner Medical Center and Monticello Avenue into a single crossing and grade separating the combined crossing with a roadway overpass.

The open house meeting will consist of a repeating recorded presentation of the alternatives developed, exhibits for viewing, the opportunity to speak with DOTD and Study Team representatives, provide comments, and join the study distribution list to receive future notices.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend the open house. Comments received at the open house and written comments post-marked by November 24, 2025 will become part of the meeting record. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may mail your comments to the address listed below.
