Ferry Systems
Today, DOTD operates three ferry crossings throughout the state:
- Mississippi River @ Plaquemine / Sunshine, Iberville Parish
- Calcasieu River @ Cameron, Cameron Parish
- Ouachita River @ Duty/Enterprise, Catahoula Parish
Additional ferries operated by others:
- Mississippi River @ Canal St / Algiers Point, Orleans Parish is operated by New Orleans Regional Transit Authority
- Mississippi River @ Chalmette / Lower Algiers, Orleans Parish is operated by New Orleans Regional Transit Authority
- Mississippi River @ Belle Chasse / Scarsdale, Plaquemines Parish is operated by Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District
- Mississippi River @ Pointe à la Hache, Plaquemines Parish is operated by Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District

Cost
To ride a ferry headed westbound, the cost is $1 per car and $0.50 for pedestrians (people who walk onto the ferry).
To ride a ferry headed eastbound, there is no charge.
