The Coordinated Use of Resources for Recreation, Economy, Navigation, and Transportation Authority Board was created by the Louisiana Legislature through Act 418 of the 2025 Regular Legislative Session. The Legislature charged the CURRENT Authority Board to develop a comprehensive master plan and associated annual plans addressing flood control, water resource management, navigation, recreation, and related infrastructure initiatives in the upland area of the state (outside of the coastal area covered by the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority). CURRENT is to serve as a CPRA-like state agency for the non-coastal area of Louisiana.
The statute directs these plans will be developed through coordination with state agencies, political subdivisions, and federal partners, and through public meetings and stakeholder engagement prior to adoption.
