Training

All DOTD Police agents undergo rigorous annual training to meet the standards set by the Peace Officers Standards and Training for law enforcement. Their training covers firearms, first aid, defensive tactics, TASER use and ongoing policy and procedural updates to ensure they remain well-prepared.

Each agent has completed a minimum of 496 hours of training at a Louisiana-accredited POST Academy, where they develop respect for others, leadership skills, and a commitment to selfless service. This training equips them to carry out their duties safely, efficiently and effectively.
