State Highway Safety Program

The State Highway Safety Program focuses on infrastructure and operations projects to reduce roadway departure and intersection crashes as outlined in the SHSP. This program is focused on state routes and is highly dependent on project submittals from DOTD District offices. 

Funding

HSIP infrastructure projects are programmed according to available funding and state fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). 

Eligiblity

Typically, the submitter for proposed projects on state owned routes is the DOTD District. Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Regional Safety Coalitions, and/or Local Public Agencies can initiate a proposed project but we request all submittals be sent through the DOTD District offices. For statewide initiatives/projects developed by the DOTD Highway Safety Section, the DOTD Highway Safety Section will work closely with the District offices impacted to develop a proposed project.
