The Harvey Tunnel, located in Jefferson Parish, is a dual tube, bi-directional, dual-lane vehicular and pedestrian tunnel beneath the Harvey Canal opened to traffic in 1957. The tunnel is approximately 1,080-ft long and is a reinforced concrete structure cast in place within temporary cofferdams constructed across the canal.

The tunnel is divided into two tubes by a reinforced concrete center wall. Each tube has two lanes of traffic in one direction, a pedestrian walkway, and a ventilation air duct below the walkway. Pedestrian access into the tunnel is provided via approach ramps and stairway structures located at the outer side of each portal. The crown and walls of both tubes are finished with reflective tile.
