Containerized Cargo Class 2 - $375
- This permit authorizes the overweight transport of sealed Ocean Containers used in hauling prepackaged products for international trade. Container axle groups may be either a tandem or tridum group.
- Maximum allowable weight:
- Gross Vehicle Weight - 95,000 pounds
- Tandem Axles - 44,000 pounds
- Tridum Axles - 60,000 pounds
- Gross Vehicle Weight - 95,000 pounds
- Maximum allowable weight:
- This permit does not supersede any lesser posted weight limits on bridges or highways.
- Containerized Cargo Class II Permits allow for movement on Interstate and non-Interstate highways.
- Travel is not prohibited at night, during moderate rain or on holidays.
Containerized Cargo Tandem Combination - $3000
- This permit authorizes the overweight transport of sealed Ocean Containers used to haul prepackaged products for international trade originating or terminating at a port facility recognized by the Ports Association of Louisiana.
- The maximum allowable vehicle combination length is 83’. Either the truck-tractor or one of the trailers shall contain a tridum axle.
- Maximum allowable weight:
- Gross Vehicle Weight - 140,000 pounds
- Tandem Axles - 40,000 pounds
- Tridum Axles - 60,000 pounds
- Gross Vehicle Weight - 140,000 pounds
- Maximum allowable weight:
- This permit does not supersede any lesser posted weight limits on bridges or highways.
- This permit allows movement on state maintained roads only, excluding the Interstate, and is route specific.
Critical Off Road – Priced by HUB meter and Mileage
- This permit applies to vehicles classified as Critical Off-Road Equipment, which generally includes vehicles having - quad axles, a single axle over 30,000 pounds, tandem axles over 54,000 pounds, or tridum axles over 54,000 pounds and/or a booster axle.
- Reasonable oversize dimensions will be covered as well; however, all appropriate escort regulations apply.
- Travel is allowed only on highways designated on the “Off-Road Annual Non-Critical and Critical Bi-Annual” printable map, accessible on the Truck Permit Office website.
- Permittees must have a charge account and approval letter for the vehicle to obtain this permit.
- The permit is valid for six calendar months and the cost is $0.07 per ton-mile, based on the amount the vehicle is overweight, and the total miles traveled during the life of the permit, plus a $25 administrative fee.
