Damage Claims

DOTD is responsible for maintaining thousands of lane miles of pavement every year, and maintaining a safe roadway for all travelers is a top priority.  We do our best to be vigilant about highway conditions and fix issues when we become aware of them.  This page is designed to be a helpful starting point if your vehicle has sustained damage due to some damage or other issue during travel on a Louisiana highway.

If you feel that you have had an incident that has caused damage to your vehicle on a State Highway, US Highway, or Interstate Highway (only roadways that are maintained by DOTD (If incident occurred on a City or Parish roadway, please contact that entity.)), the incident (road hazard claim) must be reported to the DOTD district in which the incident occurred.  Before contacting the DOTD District, you must determine where the incident happened (i.e. what Parish, what roadway, and time/date that incident occurred).  Use the table below to determine what number to call after determining where your incident occurred
